The Falstaff Hotel, Canterbury

The Falstaff started life as a medieval coaching inn and stands just outside the Westgate Towers on St Dunstan's Street, putting it within a short walk of the city centre and the cathedral without being hemmed in by the old city walls. Its half-timbered frontage is one of the more recognisable approaches into Canterbury from the west, a reminder that this was once where travellers stopped before passing through the gate itself.
